The Big Day

A man is hurrying to get to a wedding in his car. He keeps encountering stops along the way like slow drivers and a train. Meanwhile the bride is getting dressed up and ready to get married. When the preacher says "Speak now or forever hold your peace", the man in the car enters the church to object. Brien was nominated by her teachers for the title. Her outstanding grades and excellent behavior in class won the nomination. "I was named student of the month because of my hard work and perseverance," student Abbie Brien said. "All the hard work and effort that I've put in is definitely worth it."      Brien is ready to tackle the new responsibilities of the title. "There is enormous pressure from my teachers and parents," Brien said. "They see me as more hardworking and someone who tries their best."       This student of the month wants to show she's ready. "After school I go home and start on homework and study. I stay organized too. I make reminders and lists to remember to turn in homework on time....

In what ways have you helped your child to focus on academics? We've encouraged her to pay attention and take notes in class. If she needs help with homework she can come to us too. 3. My Top Story of the Century

World War I Begins in Europe World War I began in 1914 following the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. Seven countries, including the United States, fought Germany and other countries. It lasted four years and was brutal. I think this event is interesting because it broke apart parts of Europe into new countries. It was one of the deadliest conflicts in recent times. Watergate Scandal Engulfs Nixon Administration President Nixon authorized illegal activities such as eavesdropping and burglary, but was caught. He tried to cover it up behind presidential privilege. The lies and deception caught up with him and he resigned before impeachment could begin. This event is interesting because it was the first time a U.S. president resigned. It showed that the president has to obey laws just like everybody else. Scientists Clone Sheep in Great Britain Scientists in England cloned a female sheep, Dolly, in 1996.
