Front pages of the world

1. My favorite newspaper front page is The Irish Times because it's colorful, looks well thought out, and is clean. 2. My favorite headline from that newspaper is "Irish citizenship has given me a new life, human dignity, the ability to travel and basic human rights." I like this headline because it shows a form of hope and that Ireland is a good place to live. 3. There are 13 stories on the front page. 4. I noticed that the title of the newspaper is at the top in a fancy font, usually really big. There's 1 or 2 major stories below it, and below that some minor stories. There's also a couple pictures. 5. Some pages have different placement of titles, and either a lot of stories on the front page, or not many at all.

C.E. #5.1

Short Response: 1. March 24 2. Sunrise Tactical Supply 3. Mechanical engineering department, Cockrell school of engineering 4. Norway, Germany, Canada 5. Representation in Hollywood for people of color Long Response: 1. The company is called Yondr. 2. Over 600 American high schools are using them. 3. The pouches lock up the person's phone so they aren't addicted to using it at all times. 4. Some side effects are discipline problems have plummeted and the campus is really loud because people are talking to each other and aren't on their phones. 5. I think pouches would be useful in the case of movies and performances like that because it's disrespectful to the people performing and the people in the audience if you're just staring at a screen the whole time. 6. I wouldn't be happy if Bowie started using these pouches because we're starting to become more mature now and know when to use or not use our phones. Also what if students have...

C.E. #4.3

Short Response: 1. 10% 2. #blowingthewhistle 3. Homes with energy-efficient features that mean little to no energy bills for the homeowners 4. Sparkling water called Bubly 5. I'd want to own the iPhone X because it'd be interesting to see and work with the new changes. I'd also get it for the better camera. Long Response: 1. The World Health Organization is adding "gaming disorder" to their list of diseases this year. Gaming disorder is classified as "persistent or recurrent gaming behavior". Therapists have started to see this condition now more than in the past, and are glad that they can finally put a name on it and help people. 2. Some indications of the disease are an inability to quit playing, video games take up time and are seen as more important than other interests and daily activities, and excessive usage results in negative consequences. 3. An addiction is the urge to do something, it doesn't matter the substance. 4. ...

Magazines part II

1. Early magazine covers: Early magazine covers in the late 1700s had a front page that included a title and a table of contents, without a picture. In the early 1800s magazine covers were very similar to book covers. They both had a title and the date of publication with not much information on what was inside. A type of cover that was common was a front page with a picture and the magazine name. This was done to evoke curiosity from the public. 2. The poster cover: The early 1900s allowed for more creativity to be shown on magazine covers. According to longleaf.net, "The covers of many of these oversized magazines looked as if they were printed to be framed and hung on the wall." The pictures were made to fit the page but not to where it would be covered by the magazine logo. Many of the cover pictures didn't even fit the theme of what the magazine was talking about. 3. Pictures married to type: By the early 1900s cover lines were a must. They were used to draw r...
