Car raid

My parents’ cars are a true reflection of them as people. My mother’s car is never not messy. Trash litters the floor, extra napkins flood the glove compartment, and grocery bags are piled in the back seat. Her car is bigger and is known as what some would call the “family car”. My father’s car, on the other hand, is quite the opposite. Trash never stays for more than a couple hours, carpets are vacuumed regularly, and CDs are all kept in a neat little CD case located in the depth of the glove box. Look a little closer and you will find a few odd trinkets. Over the years my father has neglected to throw away the remains of my time spent in his car. Some of the things left from my childhood are as follows: a single pink barbie shoe, one rubber Lego tire, and a rainbow of melted Crayon wax in the side part of the door. His car is more of a “company car”, used mostly for his purposes only. For this assignment I have decided to write about my father. Alex Bierwag is a suburban dad livin...

Movie review

Captain Phillips Movie Review With a crew of 23, the Maersk Alabama was a ship carrying 17,000 tons of cargo on its way to Mombasa, Kenya. On April 8, 2009, four Somali pirates (Barkhad Abdi, Faysal Ahmed, Mahat M. Ali, and Barkhad Abdirahman Bilal), armed with guns, hijacked the ship. Having received training on this very situation earlier, 15 crew members hid in a secure room and the rest of the crew that wasn’t in the room, fired flares. The pirates took 2 crew members hostage in an attempt to get the crew to give them money and supplies. They went to look for the rest of the crew and one of the pirates cut his foot on glass the crew members had left out on purpose. The crew took the lead pirate hostage in order to attempt a negotiation but the rest of the pirates took Captain Phillips (Tom Hanks) hostage. In response, the crew alerts the Navy (Max Martini, and Rey Hernandez). The theme of the story is things happen. The setting of the movie is present day, give or take a few ...

I was born to my mother and father in the later months of 2002. My mother, Adriana was 33 when she had me. She had moved to the United States just four years earlier, to live and start a life with my father. They had gotten married a year before in the summer of 1997 in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Coincidentally located near Sao Paulo, the municipality where my mother grew up. With the most extended family imaginable, Adriana spent her childhood on family farms, and with friends at the beach. In college she decided to study the English language and spent summers working at a tourist center at a local hotel. There she met my father. The reputable Alex Bierwag grew up in Eugene, Oregon, roughly an hour away from the pacific coast. He spent his American childhood running the paper route with his sister, and looking for jellyfish on the sand. He was on vacation with his Brazilian roommate when he stopped to ask for directions and history of the town. My future parents started talking and lat...

Short Response 1. About 200 people 2. He felt increasingly sidelined by his boss, and he also wanted to spend more time with his family. 3. A legal practice by candidates who fill political clubs with their supporters to win endorsements. 4. Bars and restaurants 5. $250 million a. I haven't seen Infinity War but I've looked up spoilers because I have no intention of seeing it. Long Response 1. Schools in Colorado are cutting one day off the school week to allow students a break and to attract teachers to the district and save money. 2. Shorter school weeks are more popular among parents and teachers. 3. Shorter school weeks cause more crime among juveniles and it doesn't really save that much money. 4. I wouldn't be in favor because it would mean more work is crammed into the shorter week and I can barely handle all 5 days. 5. I would probably get more opportunities to hang out with people on the weekends and I'd have more time to do homework. 6. I thi...
