Welcome back 2018

Time
1. This photo is of Barron Trump looking bored and lonely during his father's inauguration. I like this picture because I think his facial expression is funny and more or less expected of a kid.

NY Times
2. This is a photo of the Women's march in Washington DC the day after the presidential inauguration. I like this picture because so many people showed up in support of women's rights and to try to make a difference and I think that's very inspiring.

Time
3. This is a photo of a black man being attacked by white people near a rally in Charlottesville. I think this is so sick and I hate that this kind of behavior still going on.

1. The best song of 2017 for me was Shape Of You by Ed Sheeran. Sheeran returned to social media at the start of the year, announcing new music. I chose this song because at first I was reluctant to listen to it but my friends were listening to it, and it was always being played on the radio. It's one of those songs that when it starts playing, everyone sings along.

2. The best movie of 2017 in my opinion was Wonder Woman. This movie was one of the best ones I saw all year because of the message. It showed that women can do anything and that they are strong, independent, and fearless. It was a very empowering movie and the plot and everything about it led me to see it twice over the summer.

3 I think the most important news story of the year was Trump becoming president. Over the course of a year Trump has made so many of the wrong decisions that don't help to benefit people. Whenever my parents would talk about the news that day, I always hoped that Trump and his action weren't going to be brought up in the conversation.
4. The most important person of the year in 2017 in my opinion was the #metoo movement. This movement gave men and women everywhere, not only in hollywood, the courage to speak out about their experiences regarding sexual assault.
5. I think the biggest entertainment story of 2017 was the attack at Ariana Grande's concert in Manchester. More than 60 people were injured and 22 were killed. The singer held another concert in Manchester the next month as a charity concert. Many famous artists performed in support. All the proceeds from the show were donated to the victims and their families.
1. One thing that happened over the break that I will remember is getting to do what I want for a couple weeks and not have to worry about things right away. My house had a really cozy and festive atmosphere that made it easy to relax over the break.
2. Some of my 2018 goals are to give more compliments, pass all my classes, don't judge people, and go to more concerts.
3. I'm looking forward to summer and turning 16 in the fall so I can get my license.
